1.
When your heart and your head tend to sleep in two separate beds It’s gonna wear you down, it’s gonna tear you apart When your mind and your soul strike a match to a fork in the road let it drive you wild, til the wheels come off Once again, I’m caught by interruption analyzing everything that I said Oh, I’m giving up on a life filled with excitement They’ll say I’m fine, guess I’m getting good at fakin’ the nines With a flaw in the plan, sell the house just to save the land Either way, you know, you’re gonna lose it all. Buckle up, start a plan, lay it down, try to take a stand It’s a chance worth taking, so fake it ‘til it falls apart Now, it must be me. I’m loved by bad attention and seduced by even worse company. I fit the cut in suit for mass destruction Oh they’ll say I’m fine, guess I’m getting good at fakin the nines You’re only fakin’ the nines
2.
There’s no safe bet in life except someday that you’ll die and every corner that you turn will often come with a surprise only you and you alone will ever know how hard you tried but if you have someone to love who loves you back you’ll be alright don’t acknowledge everyone who seems secure in crowded rooms and I promise they won’t judge you on everything you do trouble won’t be troublesome when you’re open to the ride and if you have someone to love who loves you back you’ll be alright So don’t kick and scream or fear the dream of living lost and dying alone we can take it head on wherever it comes and promise not to ever let it go oh the one thing that I learned is everything I thought I knew I’ve never known Problems are images made up in our head things we fear inside should come with less regret anything that’s haunting you is better to forget you have someone to love who loves you back and now you’re set
3.
Tiny toy truck It seems your down and out of luck You have stumbled here On stuck Once again All to familiar The place you sang your hallelujah The pill that’s meant to thrill ya Often kills you in the end but forget what they say By morning break Time will come wash it away Feeling remorse will travel its course The sun can come shining again So don’t wait For the perfect timing again Beautiful mystery Last night I dreamt that you had kissed me But awoke to see you missed me In a message that ya sent All to familiar Ya know A cold that shoots to kill ya Till it pulls the wool Over your eyes again I bet that ya guessed I gave it my best As divide pulled it apart I’ve been pushed to the rocks And pulled away back to the start Beautiful mystery Last night I dreamt that you had kissed me I awoke to hear the symphony Of a lonely heart Beating Tennessee wind Let it gaze against your skin Let it whisper through your hair Until I’m in your arms again.
4.
Another night I lie awake and I think for goodness sake I can’t imagine what I’d be without you here I’m not one to promise to but I am to promise you that must take the kind of patience of a saint To the apple of my eye, my cloak and dagger in disguise I’m but a parody an ode to better days So please release me, good grief repeating I’ve never been the type for keeping plans hell or high water, in no order if can’t means you won’t than I won’t try, til I know that I can This couldn’t come at a worse time better off for wrong or right as for clockwork, time ticks to my mistakes just a creature of routine, obvious a constant theme don’t know why you’d ever stick around and wait Up in the air, on coming down head in the clouds, feet off the ground just to disappear without a trace no I’d never swear it to do my best and follow through you can’t imagine just how much it takes maybe you do you have the patience of a saint Chorus So please don’t leave me, good grief repeating I’ve never been the type for keeping plans hell or high water, in no order if can’t means you won’t, than I won’t try, til I know that I can
5.
I’m the type that’s not easy to take wrapped up in my own minds my only take away my thoughts stay draggin on and on they never seem to break so I stay shook just to keep that shake at bay I believe in you, believe you me though I love you hard, you find it harder to receive The arch above your eye lies perfect etched in disbelief I believe in you, believe you me You always have that look, you seem confused you wear a smile fine, but your eyes, they sing the blues the heart you hold is heavy, and your screws, they all came loose the type that holds back, what am I to do What’s the point of pointing on a face when you can’t face it There’s no point in turning loose when your loose ends are all laced up now we act like this is the end of the world even though we’ve been here before
6.
We All Fall 02:53
I’d like to hear the way that you talk sing and dance between your ears and hope you don’t run off love may be the shadow that you feared between the dark so, shine the light on where it went wrong you say you love the way that I sing wish that I was there with you to be your everything all my intuition says to slow it down and breathe now your mind is tangled and weaved See it’s a messy situation from the start every time you open up your closed down by your heart the walls been built on stilts but it’s the fence that we sit on teetering in hopes to fall off So, what’s the point in falling apart stumble through the infant stage before you run amuck tie em’ tight and ride it out or get your socks knocked off feed the fire under your hot I promise we can play make believe I’ll be the coin behind your ear the ace within your sleeve the rabbits’ foot you hold, the disappointment that you need the double down that turns into threes Yeah, we all fall down Shy and short of everything, we want it all right now beggin’ for our turn, but we all get so turned around time will let you figure it out

about

“No Heavier Burden” has been in the works for just over a year now. Following the 2019 winter release of Sergio’s first solo effort, “Tell or Be Told”, he continued writing again in his spare time. Later that year, Sergio found himself spontaneously touring with The Early November on their fall U.S. tour in support of their latest album. It was then when SDR and Sergio connected and got on a call to start discussing the possibility of working together for the new album.

After the tour, Sergio came back home inspired with new awareness, and would continue to share home demos of what would eventually become, “No Heavier Burden”. In these recordings, you can hear Sergio approaching these songs in a much more stripped-down and personal way, putting much intention on the structure of the song and focusing only on the voice and guitar in it.

Come spring 2020, Sergio went back to The Lumberyard to record the new album. With the help of longtime friend and co-producer Ace Enders, the two were able to bring more life to the songs, while still keeping true to the raw and personal aspect that Sergio crafted in the beginning.

No Heavier Burden explores personal stories, emotions, relationships, vulnerabilities, and realizations of life.
